Report on the Aboriginal Students' Residential Workshop KATCH 2008

Summary

KATCH (Koori Action Towards Careers in Health) was an initiative developed within the NSW Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Strategy to improve Aboriginal health by providing opportunities for Aboriginal people to gain education and employment opportunities in nursing and midwifery. It aimed to engage, motivate and challenge Aboriginal students to consider a career in health. The students' evaluation responses indicate the KATCH experience was challenging, rewarding and motivating. In addition, the students considered that their stated needs for more meaningful information, education and knowledge about a range of health careers and oportunities to attain them were met.
