Drought Mental Health Assistance Package, Final Report

Summary

The Drought Mental Health Assistance Package announced in October 2006, provided $1m to build capacity in rural communities affected by drought.

The package funded six additional workers employed in the Area Health Services and variety of activities including:

·50 Mental Health First Aid workshops to improve understanding of mental health to help themselves, families and neighbours.
·15 Service Network meetings to improve service providers, knowledge of pathways to care for their clients.
·17 Tackling Tough Times Gatherings, to increase mental health understanding and identify local pathways.
·Development of mental health resources for consumers and service providers
