Understanding and Measuring Health Behaviours and Related Psychosocial Factors among Women with a History of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Summary

The aim of the project was to guide the development of diabetes prevention interventions for women with a history of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). The research provides insight into the experiences, beliefs, attitudes, determinants of diabetes risk factors, and preferred forms of help in the Arabic, Cantonese/Mandarin and English speaking groups of women with previous GDM. The research informed the development of a new questionnaire which may help to better profile women with previous GDM and to accurately measure the effectiveness and mechanisms of lifestyle interventions in this high risk population.
