Prevention of Falls in Residential Aged Care

Summary

This project aimed to reduce falls and fractures in residential aged care facilities receiving a series of intervention activities implemented over a 17 month period. The evaluation consisted of a cluster RCT. The evaluation was unable to demonstrate a reduction in hip fractures in the intervention group compared to the control group. The report identifies the barriers to implementation of evidence-based falls prevention strategies in residential aged care facilities.
