Summary

The NSW SmokeCheck Project provides training workshops for Aboriginal health workers and other health professionals who work with Aboriginal communities in NSW, in the delivery of evidence-based brief intervention for smoking cessation. The Project Phase 1 was implemented in 2007-2008 and has provided some significant achievements.

This report is a summary of the full report titled, the Final Report of the NSW SmokeCheck Aboriginal Tobacco Prevention Project 2007-2008 and should be read in conjunction with the full report. This report is to provide an overview, outcomes and achievements of the NSW SmokeCheck Project Phase 1. The report also identifies challenges and key issues to be addressed for improving smoking cessation support for Aboriginal communities in the future.
