Welcome to the NSW Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Program website of the NSW Department of Health Quality and Safety Branch. The Program was announced by the Minister for Health in 2004 to provide a framework for significant improvements to clinical quality and patient safety in the NSW public health system. This website aims to keep you informed of a number of important initiatives managed by the Branch. September 2008: Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis posters and booklets released

The Department recognises the importance of appropriate Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis in the prevention of avoidable deaths, and has released medical and surgical VTE prevention guidelines in poster and booklet formats.
