Public Health (General) Amendment Regulation 2008

Summary

This Regulation amends the Public Health (General) Regulation 2002 by prescribing a code of conduct for the provision of health services by:

  • unregistered health practitioners ( including de-registered health practitioners), and
  • registered health practitioners who provide health services that are unrelated to their registration.

Section 7 of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993 specifically provides that a complaint may be made undet the Act against a health practitioner in relation to an alleged breach of the code of conduct.

The code commences on 1 August 2008 .

Under clause 17 of the Regulation, practitioners must display a copy of the code at the premises where the practitioner carries out his or her practice and a copy of a notice approved bt the Director General giving information about the way in which clients can make complaints to the Health Care Complaints Commission.
