NSW Water Fluoridation Business Case

Summary

Fluoridation of community water supplies is an effective way to deliver fluoride to all members of the community, regardless of age, individual motivation, socioeconomic status or the availability of dental care. An overwhelming weight of evidence supports community water fluoridation as a safe and effective measure in the prevention of dental decay. The NSW Department of Health (NSW Health) engaged APP to develop a Business Case and Implementation Plan to complete the rollout of water fluoridation across non-fluoridated areas of NSW by 2015. The findings and conclusions presented within this report are based on extensive research and consultation with key industry representatives and council officials.
