Domestic Treadmills: A step in the right direction

Summary

Friction burns caused by domestic treadmills have been on the rise in NSW. In most cases an adult is using the treadmill and small children crawl up behind the machine. They place their hand on the rotating belt and often get it caught between the belt and the side or bottom of the machine. The situation often leads to a severe burn of the child's hand, requiring surgery and long-term care for many years.
