Psychosocial Factors influencing adjustment to Severe Burn Injury: A literature review and a proposal for a longitudinal study.

Summary

Severe burn injuries are serious traumatic injuries that must be resolved in the mind as well as the body. Given the importance of attachment state of mind to trauma resolution, we propose that attachment style and personality styles (anxious, avoidant, Type D) as well as prior psychopathology will predict the success or otherwise of an individual's adjustment to a severe burn injury.
