Fitting Disability into Practice

Summary

This article discusses time efficient and effective practice strategies to
help the general practitioner undertake systematic health promotion and
surveillance activities for people with complex and specialized needs due to
a disability, such as a spinal cord injury. These include organizing
practice structures, employing a structured health assessment and making useof Medicare EPC items such as GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements to adequately remunerate the time and effort taken to plan and coordinate comprehensive chronic care plans.
