NSW Health Drug and Alcohol Research Grants Program - Expression of Interest

Summary

NSW Health invites applications for the NSW Health Drug and Alcohol Research Grants Program 2008/09.

The NSW Health Drug and Alcohol Research Grants Program was advertised in The Australian on Saturday 12 April 2008, The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday 16 April and Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday 16 April 2008.

The Program is open to researchers and research institutions across Australia. However, the Chief or Principal Investigator must be based in NSW and the research must be based on NSW populations.

The priority areas for the Drug and Alcohol Research Grants Program 2008/09 are:

1. Workforce
a. Evaluation of innovative modalities of service delivery and treatment (Information Technology, on-line, telephone, video-link, nurse practitioner etc)
b. Clinician fatigue, burnout and trauma (incidence, severity, stress and/or resilience factors)
c. Evaluation of NSW/National guidelines/policy implementation

2. Alcohol Interventions
a. Pharmacotherapies (maintenance and withdrawal)
b. Harm reduction
c. Special populations (pregnant women, Aboriginal, liver disease, adolescents and older persons etc.)

3. Psycho stimulants (evaluation, withdrawal, mental health)

4. Other Clinical Programs
a. Investigators are also invited to submit applications for research into other clinical programs (Opioid Treatment Program, Hepatitis C Virus, clinical drug and alcohol research etc.)

The Grants Program Expression of Interest form (EOI) is attached. To make an application the EOI must be completed and returned to NSW Health by Monday 19 May 2008.
