NSW Government Position: A Way Forward On Health Reform
Summary
NSW Premier Kristina Keneally has announced her position for the COAG meeting on health and hospital reform. The NSW Governement supports 26 out of 29 key areas - almost 90 per cent of the reforms. They include: - Establishment of Local Hospital Networks to run hospitals day- to-day; - National roll out of Activity Based Funding; - Setting up an independent umpire to determine prices for hospital and non-hospital services; - Establishment of new national standards - in partnership - for hospital and health services; and - Commonwealth taking over funding and policy responsibility for primary care and Home and Community Care Services.
