Models of Care 2005 Roadshow presentations

Summary

In 2002 a Joint Strategic Reference Group was established to provide a forum for addressing issues concerning nursing and midwifery in NSW. One of the key priorities identified by this group was to undertake a major review of nursing models of care and the role of nurses.

The review resulted in a state-wide roadshow held between February and April 2005 showcasing innovative nursing models of care. The Roadshow also engaged the nursing profession in debate around the way in which nursing and midwifery care is practised and delivered and the current and future roles of nurses and midwives.

In addition to presentations on workforce modelling by the Chief Nursing Officer and a review of literature pertaining to models of care and nurses' roles by Professor Mary Chiarella, former Chief Nursing Officer, thirty nine different groups of nurses presented their work.
