Health Professionals Workforce Taskforce
The NSW Government has a commitment to the development of a 10 year Health Professionals Workforce Plan. With the challenges facing the health system from an ageing population and increases in chronic disease and the changes arising from the National Health and Hospital Reform it is vital that NSW health has an adaptable, flexible and skilled workforce able to meet future challenges.
Improving timely access to quality health care starts with putting patients back at the centre of every decision in the NSW Health system. Every decision and every person in the health system must be focussed on patients and about ways to improve their access to quality health care.
To do this we need to restore a culture and working environment in the health system where our hardworking doctors, nurses and allied health staff are respected, supported and can spend more time caring for patients.
This consultation process is the first step in seeking advice on what we need to do to get the health system right. It is an opportunity for you to provide feedback on what you believe the steps are to get the NSW Health system heading in the right direction.
Feedback gathered during the consultation process will be used to form the foundation of the Health Professionals Workforce Plan 2012-2025, which will guide workforce priorities, policy and action.
I encourage you to provide feedback, ideas and thoughts via this website by 14 November 2011.
