The service is private and confidential, available 24/7, staffed by professional and qualified staff.

You can contact COVID Connexion as often as you need, and whenever you want. The service is tailored specifically to health workers’ experiences and can connect you with a range of online and face-to-face resources if you need ongoing support or additional assistance.

How do I access the service?

The service is available 24/7 on 1300 509 989. All NSW Health employees, clinical, nonclinical, corporate and administrative staff can access the service.

We also recognise the important role of family, friends and carers who support health workers. COVID Connexion can also be accessed by partners, family and close relatives, friends and carers.

Is the service independent?

The service is managed by Healthdirect Australia, independent from NSW Health.

Will my manager find out that I have called?

No, your manager or NSW Health will not be informed who has contacted the service. If you like, you can choose to remain anonymous.

Is this support confidential?​

You may be asked to provide some brief personal information so the service can assess your needs and offer you a range of tailored information and support. You can choose to remain anonymous if you prefer.

Is the service staffed by professionals with experience in mental health?

Yes, all staff are qualified and trained mental health professionals.

Is the service staffed by people who truly understand what it’s like as a health worker responding to COVID-19?

The service is staffed by professionals who understand your specific needs.

They are trained mental health professionals who are able to provide you with immediate support and direct you to additional resources and support services if required.

Why should I use this service instead of EAP or Beyond Blue / Lifeline?

COVID Connexion is a dedicated service for health professionals and other employees of NSW Health (including students on placement).

Staff are qualified mental health professionals who have been trained to specifically respond to a wide range of concerns you may have during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What support does the line offer for Aboriginal health workers?

The service offers holistic and culturally relevant information to support the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

I don’t speak English as a first language – can I use the service?

Yes, you can use the national Translating and Interpreting Service for in-language assistance to use the service.

Why is the new service available?

We value what you’re doing, and we want to support you as your wellbeing is a priority.

These are exceptional times, and this is additional support. You don’t need to be embarrassed or ashamed about reaching out for help. If you are feeling stress or anxiety, there are people available who know what you are going through and can support you.

Who can call COVID Connexion?

The service is available to all NSW Health staff including local health districts, Ministry of Health, pillars and agencies. Anyone can access the service, clinical and non-clinical staff, whether you work in a hospital, community health centre, dental clinic or in a corporate office.

Family members, including partners and relatives as well as close friends and carers can call COVID Connexion for support.
