Active cases are defined as people who have tested positive for COVID-19, are in isolation and are being clinically monitored by NSW Health. A person will no longer be an active case when they are clinically released from isolation.
Cases with an unknown source mean there are some people with COVID-19 who do not know where or how they were infected. This shows there are people infected with COVID-19 in the community who have not been diagnosed and is the reason why testing is critical. Read more about testing advice and
areas of increased testing.
