The downloadable tables below show the type of pain relief provided to women during labour and/or birth for local health districts, and for individual hospitals by maternity service capability level where at least 200 mothers gave birth in 2024.
In addition to the types of pain relief shown in the tables, in 2024 a further 12,864 (14.7%) women who gave birth in NSW were reported to have received local anaesthetic to the perineum, and 467 (0.5%) received a pudendal block.
