Transcript of Why you need to self-isolate for 14 days

Dr Jan Fizzell, NSW Health Medical Advisor: At the moment NSW Health is askinga number of people to get tested and self-isolate for 14 days since their exposure.

When we ask you to get tested that means we are looking for copies of the virus at the back of your nose and throat, some people are making the copies of the virus that we can find at the back of the nose and throat in as little as 24 hours.

However we know that for some people this can take up to 14 days.

So if you are tested on day 1 and have no symptoms, we still need you to self-isolate for that whole 14 day period.
