In response to increasing number of complex issues concerning air pollution, air quality and air monitoring, the Chief Health Officer established an Air Pollution Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) in 2010. This committee provided expert advice on the current scientific evidence relating to air pollution and public health, which complemented the ongoing policy and research work already undertaken by the Department. In August 2015 this committee was expanded to address a wider range of environmental health risks as the Chief Health Officer's Environmental Health Expert Advisory Panel (EHEAP).
