Dr Alex King is Director of Behavioural Insights in the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet and heads the Behavioural Insights Unit. He has previously worked for the NSW and UK governments in a number of roles, including in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, planning and performance, environmental strategy, justice, horizon scanning, freedom of information and renewable energy policy. He has an academic background in the physical sciences.

Andrew Whitehead manages a portfolio of projects that support disability inclusion, including monitoring the implementation of NSW Health’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan. The Plan provides a strategic framework for supporting a culture of disability inclusion across the NSW health system. The Disability Inclusion Action Plan promotes more inclusive policies, programs and services, the development of skills and knowledge through training, and a more diverse workforce.

Assistant Commissioner York joined the NSW Police Force in 1980 and currently holds the position of Commander, Human Resources. Her career spans a number of areas including forensic services; general duties policing; prosecuting matters of a complex and sensitive nature including murder; sexual assault, fraud and armed robbery in local, children’s and licensing courts; the strategic review of diverse and complex issues within field and specialist operations at an executive level; and various roles within forensic services group. Carlene is a member of several executive strategic law enforcement and professional associations and is currently the Chair of the Australasian Council of Women and Policing. Assistant Commissioner York is a recipient of the Australian Police Medal and National Medal.
Director of Clinical Integration, The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network
Cheryl is the Director of Clinical Integration for The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN). Cheryl has 25 years health experience, including roles in nursing, research, education and executive management. Key responsibilities include clinical leadership for e-health strategy and adoption, clinical analytics, and revenue sustainability. Cheryl has a focus on developing people to evolve models to support safe efficient services, fair resourcing, and innovation in health. Recent work includes research into efficiency and safety of EMR implementations, and the development of patient facing applications. She is appointed to the Clinical and Technical Advisory Committee to the Australian Digital Health Agency.

Dan’s career has spanned finance and operational leadership roles, gained across both the private and public sector. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Commercial Law from the University of Auckland, Master’s degree in Accounting from Griffith University. Dan has been with the Intercontinental Hotels Group and Channel Seven’s Pacific Magazines. Dan joined Sydney Water in 2006 where he undertook a number of roles including General Manager People, Leadership and Culture, and General Manager Transformation. In June 2015 Dan moved to become Chief Executive of HealthShare NSW, the services delivery arm of NSW Health.
Director, The Kinghorn Cancer Centre, Garvan Institute of Medical Research
Professor David Thomas is an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, and a medical oncologist specialising in sarcomas. In June 2014 he was appointed as Director of The Kinghorn Cancer Centre and Head of the Cancer Division at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Sydney. Dr Thomas has a particular focus on the impact of genomics on cancer medicine and public health. His work has had significant translational impact. Dr Thomas led an international clinical trial of denosumab in Giant Cell Tumor of bone, which has led to a new therapeutic option for patients with advanced disease.

Deb Hoban is a Senior Project Officer with the Ministry’s Mental Health Branch working on the Pathways to Community Living Initiative. Deb is an Occupational Therapist with 30 years' experience working in clinical, managerial, academic and policy roles within health services in both metropolitan and rural areas of NSW, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Deb is committed to consumer directed health care and interested in the exploration of partnership models to truly realise this aim.
Professor of Public Health and Senior Advisor, University of Sydney and Sax Institute
Don Nutbeam is a Professor of Public Health at the University of Sydney, and a Senior Advisor at the Sax Institute. His career has spanned positions in universities, government, health services and an independent health research institute. He was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, UK (2009-15), Provost at the University of Sydney (2006-9) and also Head of Public Health in the UK Department of Health (2000-3). He has worked as an adviser for the World Health Organisation and the World Bank. He is a social scientist with research interests in the social and behavioural determinants of health, and in the development and evaluation of public health interventions.

Associate Professor Elisabeth Murphy is the Senior Clinical Advisor, Child and Family Health, NSW Ministry of Health. She has overseen the implementation of a number of early intervention programs designed to lead to improved health throughout life, including NSW-wide evidence based screening programs for hearing and vision, Aboriginal maternal and infant health programs, and promotion of health checks for improved child development and health in the NSW Personal Health Record. Concurrent with her Ministry role, Associate Professor Murphy works in Northern Sydney Local Health District as Network Director for Child, Youth and Family Services.

Dr Elodie Chiarovano is an associate lecturer at the school of psychology at the University of Sydney. Dr Chiarovano completed a PhD in Paris with her thesis on the study of effectiveness of testing balance function of the inner ear. She travelled to Australia to further her research into the use of innovative technologies in balance testing and translate these tools into clinical use by doctors, nursing staff and physiotherapists. She is conducting a post doctorate fellowship in the use of virtual reality and its clinical applications in measuring and rehabilitating patients with inner ear disorders.

Professor Gordon Wallace is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Institute of Physics, and Royal Australian Chemical Institute. He is involved in the design and discovery of new materials for use in energy and health such as using new materials to improve human performance and novel wearable and implantable energy systems for the use in medical technologies. He is committed to research and the translation of fundamental discoveries into practical applications. He is a passionate communicator, dedicated to explaining scientific advances to all in the community.
In 2017, he was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia and received Wollongong’s award for Innovation, serving also as Wollongong’s Australia Day Ambassador. Dr MacDougall is doctor of philosophy at Sydney University, graduating in 2003 with a thesis on The Human Eye-Movement Response to Maintained Surface Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation. After 3 years of postdoctoral training at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York), he returned to Australia as an ARC Postdoctoral Fellow. He is currently Principal Research Fellow of a Rapid Translation of Advanced Vestibular Testing and Treatment project (with the Garnett Pass Rodney William Memorial Foundation). Dr MacDougall developed a range of innovative methods and technologies. For example, he invented the Video Head-Impulse Test which is today commercialized in 66 countries worldwide and had significantly improved patient benefit and helped clinicians in the assessment of vestibular function.

As a surgeon serving a deprived population in east Glasgow, Harry Burns concluded that conventional approaches were inadequate for improving health. He trained in Public Health, became Director of Public Health for Glasgow in 1995 and was appointed Chief Medical Officer for Scotland in 2005.
Studies of inequality led him to propose unique approaches to the creation of wellbeing. Knighted by the Queen in 2011 for services to medicine, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland in 2014, presented him on behalf of the Scottish Parliament with a Lifetime Achievement award. He is a member of Scotland’s Council of Economic Advisers.

Dr Joanne Ging is a general paediatrician who works in the Department of General Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and was the previous Head of Department. She is also theMedical Clinical Program Director for the Community, Ambulatory, Rehabilitation, Population and Allied Health (CARPA) Directorate.
Dr Ging is passionate about the safe care of children, especially children with chronic and complex needs and from vulnerable families. Dr Ging has also worked in rural NSW as a sole paediatrician and in Northern Sydney Local Health District where she was the Clinical Director of Women’s and Children’s Health.

Professor Rasko is an Australian pioneer in the application of adult stem cells and genetic therapy. He is a clinical haematologist, pathologist and scientist with an international reputation in gene and stem cell therapy, experimental haematology and molecular biology. He has publishing over 150 articles on stem cells and haemopoiesis, gene transfer technologies, oncogenesis, human genetic diseases and non-coding RNAs.
He serves as Chair of GTTAC, responsible for advising on the regulation of all GMOs in Australia. Dr Clark is Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Sydney. He leads the clinical research program and directs of the Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute fellowship program at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has published over 170 papers / book chapters principally on advanced skin cancer, microvascular reconstruction, oral cancer and salivary gland tumors. He co-founded the Sydney Facial Nerve Service, serves on the international editorial board for Head and Neck journal, represents Australia in the Global IFHNOS fellowship, and co-founded Beyond Five, the first dedicated head and neck cancer education website and charity.

Kai Cheng is an expert in design and 3D printing and a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. He is the Surgical Innovation Research Officer at the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery. Following a Master’s in Medical Applications of Augmented Reality, his current PhD explores studying the applications of augmented reality, virtual reality and 3D printing in improving patient outcomes in ear, nose and throat surgery.
Advocate for Awareness Raising on Intellectual Disability, Kylie Downs Barriers
Kylie Scott is a public speaker and artist who raises awareness and voices the rights of people with an intellectual disability.
Kylie's life as a person with an intellectual disability (Down syndrome) has equipped her to share her experiences with others.
Kylie has presented at national and international conferences, at workshops for government entities, at schools, and at staff training seminars. Her talks highlight ways of assisting people less able than ourselves so they are encouraged and included in our communities.

Lif joined the Metro Regional Intellectual Disability Network from the Agency for Clinical Innovation Transition Care Network where she supported young people with chronic illness and disability during the move from paediatric to adult services. As a registered Nurse with qualifications in general and mental health/intellectual disability nursing, Lif has held a variety of positions including Clinical Instructor in Acute Psychiatry and Intellectual Disability, and Patient Flow Manager. Lif has work with children, young people and adults with intellectual disabilities for more than 15 years.

Dr Michael Brydon was permanently appointed to the role of Chief Executive of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network in July 2016.
Prior to the network forming, Michael worked at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick for 27 years after completing his undergraduate Medical Degree at UNSW and his Fellowship of Paediatrics in the Randwick program. His other postgraduate qualifications include a Master’s of Paediatrics and a Master’s of Health Administration from UNSW.
In the last two decades, Michael has held an increasingly more senior management portfolio across local, state and national agenda. As a result of these roles, he has established a wide network of personal partnerships, predominantly in the child health environment, and gained significant expertise in clinical management and medical administration.

Dr Nigel Lyons has over 30 years’ experience in the NSW Health system as a clinician, manager and executive.
He is the Deputy Secretary, Strategy and Resources at the NSW Ministry of Health where he is responsible for strategic health policy development, inter-jurisdictional negotiations and funding strategies, system-wide planning of health services including mental health and setting the direction for child and family health policy.

Associate Professor Payal Mukherjee is an Adult and Paediatric ENT Surgeon subspecialising in hearing and balance disorders. As the ENT Research Lead of the RPAIAS, she has been awarded many research grants and is currently undertaking a PhD on innovative technologies in ENT. She has an interest in both lab based and clinical research and is inspired by anything that involves thinking outside the square. As an executive member on the NSW state committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, she also has a great interest in advocating for surgical research, building respect in surgery and gender equity in surgery and academia.

Associate Professor Peter McGeorge (Universities New South Wales and Notre Dame) is an Adolescent and General Psychiatrist who has extensive experience in the development and delivery of services as the Director of three major mental health services in Auckland, Wellington and Sydney. Over the last 20 years, Sarah has worked in regional centres to specialist tertiary units and from community care to acute care retrieval services.

Dr Teresa Anderson is the Chief Executive of the Sydney Local Health District, one of the leading public health services in Australia. Dr Anderson is a speech pathologist internationally recognised for her specialist knowledge and skills in the research, assessment and management of paediatric and adult dysphagia, early communication development, early childhood development and early intervention.
Dr Anderson is a member of nine medical research and PHN boards and is an active member of the Sydney Health Partners Governing Council and Executive Management Group, one of the first four centres in Australia designated by the National Health and Medical Research Council as an Advanced Health Research Translation Centre.

He was Executive Director for Health System Information and Performance Reporting and Acting Deputy Secretary for System Purchasing and Performance at the NSW Ministry of Health.In New Zealand he led a regional shared services agency and managed the national health information strategy and architecture for New Zealand’s Ministry of Health.Zoran holds a medical degree, a Master’s of Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.
