The Child Death Review Team

The NSW Child Death Review Team reviews the deaths of children in NSW, with the purpose of preventing and reducing child deaths. In February 2011, the NSW Ombudsman became the Convenor of the NSW Child Death Review Team. The NSW Child Death Review Team reports to the NSW Parliament each year in relation to child deaths.

The NSW Child Death Review Team continues to be concerned about Sudden Unexpected Deaths in Infancy. Almost 50 infants die suddenly and unexpectedly each year. The NSW Child Death Review Team report indicates although rates have been declining the rate has not changed significantly since 2008.  The full report is available from NSW Ombudsman.
