In September 2013, the Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Jillian Skinner, and the Minister for Mental Health, Kevin Humphries, released the NSW Service Plan for People with Eating Disorders 2013-18 (the Service Plan) and an accompanying summary document, A Plan for People with Eating Disorders.
The Service Plan was developed because the NSW Government recognises the importance of focusing on local access to assessment and pathways to care, which will involve networked and integrated responses across public and private providers. This will ensure the journey to recovery is assisted by timely access to developmentally appropriate services that responds to all levels of clinical need. Targeted investment in specialist and tertiary supports will expand community and inpatient responses, including workforce development, over the five years of the Service Plan’s implementation.
