Applications for the 2023 enrolment open on Monday 17 October 2022 and close on Friday 2 December 2022.

We value recruiting, retaining and developing the skills of registered nurses working within mental health services of the NSW public health system.

We offer scholarships of up to $8,000 to registered nurses who are doing the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) AMHS course.

These scholarships help with educational expenses directly associated with postgraduate study and are open to nurses working in full or part-time permanent positions within mental health services in the NSW public health system.

Scholarships will be offered under the Clinical Studies category.

You can apply for this postgraduate scholarship if you're enrolled to study the AMHS course offered by HETI in 2023.

The AMHS course is specialised in one of the following areas:

  • perinatal and infant
  • child and adolescent
  • adult
  • older person

If you're doing postgraduate studies offered by other education providers, you should apply for the nursing postgraduate scholarships which open late November 2022.

Postgraduate scholarships for the AMHS course offered in 2023 are a single payment. The amount depends on the postgraduate qualification that you're studying.

Scholarships contribute to the cost of courses at the following levels:

Postgraduate qualification Amount
Graduate Certificate $3,000
Graduate Diploma $6,000

Masters Program

$8,000

These postgraduate scholarships are funded by the Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO).

Terms and conditions

You can only get one scholarship per program of study

For example:

Ms Jones gets a $6,000 scholarship in 2023 to undertake a Graduate Diploma in the AMHS (Perinatal and Infant) course. She finishes the Graduate Diploma. In 2025 she decides to 'upgrade' to the AMHS Masters qualification in Perinatal and Infant. She can't apply for a scholarship because the first one was also for Perinatal and Infant, which is the same program of study.

You can only get one scholarship in a three-year timeframe

For example:

Ms Jones enrols in a Graduate Diploma in 2023 and plans to do the course over three years. If she got $6,000 for study in 2023, she can't apply for another scholarship until 2025.

Exclusions

you can't get these scholarships if:

  • you've already got a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) scholarship
  • you aren't enrolled in an AMHS program of study offered by HETI
  • you're doing post graduate courses outside the AMHS provided through HETI
