Transcript of 2020 Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships.

Renee Bani: Hi. My name is Renee Bani and I'm an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman. I am from the Kaanju people in Far North Queensland and the Wagadagam people from Mabuyag Island in the Torres Strait Islands. I'm in my first year of my Bachelor of Midwifery.

Voiceover: New South Wales Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship applications are now open for those studying a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery.

Renee: I was nervous at how I was going to manage that, the change of lifestyle for me. From going to working, not working, being a mum, and solely, the sole parent. How was I going to do this? So I applied for the scholarship and thought okay I might have a good chance.

I actually got it and it was just, it was a massive blessing and all the skills and the knowledge that I've learnt is actually helping my people in the community that I'm working with and working for. So it's been really great.
