Menopause presentations out of scope

Public outpatient services in NSW are generally not provided to patients presenting with these conditions.

Adult patients (aged 16 years or over)

Menopause management	Endometrial hyperplasia in perimenopausal or menopausal patient aged > 40 years Note: refer to general gynaecology state-wide referral criteria Osteoporosis where this is the primary concern Note: latest osteoporosis management guidelines can be applied in general practice with referral to endocrinologist using endocrinology state-wide referral criteria (if specialist input is required) or osteoporosis refracture prevention service (if minimal trauma fracture present) Primary menopausal care or advice (unless socioeconomic barriers, such as cultural and financial complexities, are present) Note: refer to Practitioner's Toolkit for the Management of the Menopause (Monash Toolkit) for more information Provision of menopausal hormonal implants Symptoms of menopause in a patient aged > 40 years who has not had any trial of treatment and where there are no contraindications to treatment
Non-condition specific	Fertility concerns or services Note: referral to fertility services is considered more appropriate Routine contraceptive care or services, including, but not limited to: Routine contraceptive counselling Routine Implanon, Mirena or other progestogen-releasing intrauterine device (IUD) insertion for contraception or removal Note: refer to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) clinical guideline and the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) decision-making tool for more information. Routine gender affirming care or gender affirming surgery Note: refer to the NSW Specialist Trans and Gender Diverse Health Service for more information. Routine gynaecological care, including, but not limited to: Cervical screening Heavy menstrual bleeding Ovarian cysts Pelvic pain Post-menopausal bleeding Routine gynaecological check-up Vulval problems Note: refer to gynaecological oncology state-wide referral criteria where there is concern of malignancy, otherwise refer to general gynaecology state-wide referral criteria.
