The nominees, finalist and winners

Each Local Health District/Specialty Health Network will have the opportunity to nominate one person from their district or network for each category. Each nominee will receive a letter from the Ministry of Health highlighting their achievement. 

The nominees will be shortlisted by a Ministry of Health Judging Panel to three finalists for each category. All finalist will be showcased through print and digital media. The Finalist with their Director of Allied Health will be invited to attend the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards Ceremony.

The winners of each category will receive $500 to go towards Professional Development opportunities. All winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. Their success will be showcased through print, social and digital media. The winners will also receive a trophy and certificate to display with pride.

Award rules

  1. The nominees must be employees of NSW Health and is employed under the following awards:
    • NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award 2019
    • NSW Health Service Allied Health Assistants (State) Award 2019
    • Health Employees Medical Radiation Scientists (State) Award 2019
    • Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award 2019
    • Health Employees Pharmacists (State) Award 2019
    • Health Managers (State) Award 2019 (must be in a dedicated Allied Health role)
    • Health Employees Administrative Staff (State) Award 2019 (must be in a dedicated Allied Health role
  2. Each Local Health District/Specialty Health Network (LHD/SHN) can nominate one person for each of the award categories.
  3. The Director of Allied Health will co-ordinated and approve the nomination approach form their LHD/SHN.
  4. Hard copy nominations will not be accepted.
  5. It will be the responsibility for the Director of Allied Health to check employment status and to exclude nominees with professional performance issues.
  6. If a nominee has been a finalist in previous years they shall not be re-considered in the same category, or a similar category for three years.
  7. If a nominee has been a winner in previous years, they will not be considered in a similar category again.
  8. A person cannot be nominated in more than one category in the same year with the exception of the nominee for Aboriginal  Allied Health Professional of the Year can also be nominated for one other category.
  9. The judge's decision is final – no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  10. Personal information about nominees and nominators provided will only be used for the purposes of assessing and judging of the nomination in the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards.
  11. It will be of the responsibility of the Director of Allied Health to ensure prize money attached to the award is spent toward appropriate professional development.
  12. The Ministry of Health will consider a travel allowance for finalist case-by-case.
