The Workforce Policy and Development unit's mission is to identify emerging trends that may impact on the NSW Health workforce in the short, medium and long term. The unit also leads workforce policy and development initiatives that focus on ensuring our world-class workforce meets the needs of the community now and into the future.

The unit achieves its mission through a four step methodology:

  1. Workforce insights - Analysing emerging trends and developments to remain informed and proactive.
  2. Strategic priorities - Increasing the capacity of the workforce to provide the services required.
  3. Co-design - Working with our health and education partners to improve workforce capability.
  4. Workforce development - Providing governance and advice to influence and shape the NSW Health workforce now and into the future.

Workforce insights, strategic priorities, co-design and workforce development are the key areas of methodology
