March 2023 edition : Elevating the human experience

In 2023 the Experience team is focusing on implementing the Elevating the Human Experience workplan

This article highlights some of our key projects.

All of Us: Engaging consumers, carers and communities across NSW

In 2022 NSW Health staff and health consumers came together to develop a statewide consumer engagement framework.

The framework, called All of us: engaging consumers, carers and communities across NSW Health, is now in its final stages. The guide is accessible to both staff and consumers. Implementation begins in March and it will be formally launched during Human Experience Week which starts on 1 May 2023.

Four people collaborating at a table connected to a flow chart of 'All of us' All of us includes:

  • core ingredients (principles of engagement)
  • information about methods of engagement
  • a comprehensive engagement planning tool
  • a recipe canvas for people to plan specific engagement activities
  • an overview, also available as a PDF download.

All of us was featured at the Elevating the Human Experience showcase in December 2022. Catch up on the presentation.

Caring for our most valuable assets – our people

Schwartz Rounds provide an evidence-based forum where staff come together to discuss the social and emotional aspects of working in healthcare. Attendees report significant improvement in staff psychological wellbeing, increased empathy and compassion for patients and colleagues and positive changes in practice.

Clinical Lead Dr Samantha Jakimowicz, Project Manager Laura Kelly and Project Officer Kat Richardson are part of an experienced Centralised Support Hub team helping to implement Schwartz Rounds.

This name change, supported by consumers and staff, reflects inclusivity and alignment to Elevating the Human Experience – Our Guide to Action and Future Health: Guiding the next decade of health care in NSW 2022 - 2032.

The theme of Human Experience Week is “All of Us” – the Power of Community and the sub themes are Love, Belonging and Healing.

Once more, we will be offering a hybrid of wonderful events to excite and inspire.

Two local health districts or speciality networks (one regional, one metropolitan) will be invited to host an in-person event.

We’ll share more information about the 2023 program of events shortly. For regular updates please visit the Elevating the Human Experience website.
