System Purchasing is responsible for developing and operationalising the Purchasing Framework for NSW Health.

The Purchasing Framework is a fundamental mechanism for directing resources to achieve the key priorities, directions and strategies of NSW Health, and aims to better link funding and performance outcomes to the mix and level of services to be purchased from districts and networks.

System Purchasing also leads the development and negotiation of service agreements with districts and networks, and performance agreements with pillar organisations, providing expert advice and targeted support to improve performance and ultimately, the health outcomes for people in NSW.

Specialty knowledge and assistance is also provided by subject matter experts to enable the optimal delivery of emergency and elective surgery, emergency departments and ambulatory care.
