Immunisation

Highlights included:

• a meningococcal ACWY vaccination program for 17-18 year olds, achieving 72% coverage for Year 11 and 76% coverage for Year 12
• transition to a 2-dose course of human papillomavirus vaccine for students in Year 7
• immunisation coverage for Aboriginal children of 94.3% at 1 year of age and 97% at 5 years of age and for non-Aboriginal children 93.8% at both 1 year and 5 years of age
• meeting all performance benchmarks under the first National Partnership Agreement on Essential Vaccines
• commencement of a new National Partnership Agreement on Essential Vaccines
• implementation of recommendations from the Review of the Public Health Act 2010 relating to immunisation and enrolment in child care, primary and secondary schools
• two new policy directives:
  • Vaccine Storage and Cold Chain Management
  • Neonatal Hepatitis B Prevention and Vaccination Program
