  • Australian STI Management Guidelines
    An online resource for primary care health professionals in Australia. Provides concise information to support the prevention, testing, diagnosis, management and treatment of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) for adults and adolescents.
  • Sexual Health Infolink
    Provides a service to support health professionals, including providing clinical information about HIV and STI testing, treatment and referrals. The service also performs enhanced partner notification activities.
  • NSW Sexual Health Clinics
    Find the closest appropriate sexual health clinics across Sydney and regional and rural NSW.
  • NSW HIV Support Program (HSP)
    For newly diagnosed patients. Any doctor can self-request support from the HSP. Call the NSW Health Communicable Diseases Branch on 02 9391 9195 and ask to speak with an HIV Surveillance Officer. HSP Coordinators strive to contact diagnosing doctors before the doctor gives an HIV diagnosis to a patient.

    This tool provides a prescribing pathway which summarises the key eligibility and recommended assessment for primary care providers in Australia to prescribe PrEP and the ongoing patient education and monitoring requirements.
  • STIPU STI/HIV Testing Tool
    Supports general practice and other primary care clinicians to conduct evidence-led and risk-based STI/HIV testing.
  • PEP hotline
    The PEP hotline (1800 PEP NOW) operates 24 hours. You can call the PEP hotline to discuss a client’s HIV risk, if they should be recommended to take PEP and to find locations where PEP can be accessed. PEP is available from Emergency Departments of most public hospitals, sexual health clinics and some other clinics and doctors that specialise in gay men’s health and HIV. If the exposure happens after hours, Emergency Departments are often the best place to go to make sure you start PEP as soon as possible.
  • Emergency Department Provision of HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
    Emergency department staff play an important role to provide early access to PEP for people who present with reported HIV exposure. The Emergency Department Provision of HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) online course takes 10 minutes to complete. The course will inform you about: effectiveness and eligibility for PEP, testing requirements, drug contraindications and supply, and patient advice and follow up at a local sexual health service. NSW Health staff can access this training by logging in to My Health Learning and searching course code 420971178.
