In 2022 the NSW Ministry of Health Workforce Planning and Talent Development (WPTD) Branch undertook a Principles of Allied Health Governance project. This was in alignment with the NSW Health Workforce Plan 2022-2032 – (Priority 3.2) which emphasises the need for NSW Health to 'develop, define, pilot and publish best practice multidisciplinary processes while strengthening clinical and professional governance'.

Transcript: NSW Health Principles of Allied Health Governance report

The NSW Principles of Allied Health Governance report provides a foundation to guide best practice strategic, operational, professional, and clinical allied health governance - all of which are essential for safe and high-quality service delivery. A self-assessment tool has been developed as part of the report to assist Local Health Districts (LHDs) and Specialty Health Networks (SHNs) to understand their current state and provides a roadmap of opportunities to strengthen allied health governance that can be considered for customisation and implementation within LHD/SHN context.
