How to apply

All applicants must apply via an online portal where they will need to provide personal information, answer a number of screening questions and upload all the required documentation listed below. 

  1. Resume.
  2. Australian Citizenship Certificate, permanent residency or valid visa.
  3. Australian Medical Council Computer Adaptive Test Part 1 Exam result or AMC Part 1 Certificate (and AMC Part 2 result/Certificate if applicable).
  4. Proof of English Language Proficiency.
  5. Cover letter.​

Tips for a good resume

  • Resumes should follow the resume template format; be up-to-date and a maximum of 3 pages.
  • List your work experience in chronological order with your most recent work experience at the top.
  • Include your employment dates when listing work experience.
  • Indicate the date you completed the AMC Part 1.
  • Indicate if you have passed or attempted the AMC Part 2.
  • Indicate if you are preparing for AMC Part 2.

Tips for a good cover letter

  • Please follow the instructions provided on the Cover Letter template.
  • Read the role description carefully and explain in your cover letter how you meet the selection criteria, including examples
  • Your cover letter must not be longer than 2 pages.

Tips for answering the screening questions

  • Do not use ChatGPT or any other AI platform to answer the questions, we will be able to detect AI.
  • Answer the question within the word limits.
  • Make sure to include examples of your own experience.
  • Consider using the STAR method​ to answer questions.

Recommendations for successful interview

Applicants who score high in the applications stage will be progressed to the interview stage. Interviews will be conducted through an online platform.

  • Once you have started your interview you will not be able to pause it and come back.
  • Please ensure that you have good coverage/WIFI before you start your online interview.
  • You will be required to answer 5 questions, there will be a mix of written and video response answers.

Who should not apply for the ICRP?

  • Please do not apply for the ICRP if you do not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Please do not apply for ICRP if you are not available for the full 12-week program running from 2 March 2026 and concluding 22 May 2026.
  • Please do not apply for the ICRP if you have already accepted a position as a medical officer in Australia and have submitted an application for registration with Aphra.
