What are the symptoms of RSV?

Symptoms are signs that you might be sick.

When you catch RSV, you might have:

  • a runny nose

  • a cough

  • a wheeze

  • a fever

  • trouble breathing.

RSV can lead to other health problems, like an infection in your lungs.

When you have an infection, it means germs have gotten into your body.

This can make you very sick.

Babies less than 12 months old with RSV might also:

  • get a chest infection

  • have noisy breathing

  • find it hard to breathe

  • find it hard to eat and drink as usual.
