6. The final review

A doctor writing on a clipboard.

Your doctor will review your decision after your final request.

A rules document with a magnifying glass next to it.

When a doctor reviews your decision, they check that you still meet the rules for voluntary assisted dying.

A stack of documents with a tick above them, and a gavel icon next to them.

This includes making sure all your documents:

  • are ready
  • follow the law.

Your doctor will also make sure:

A person with a speech bubble that has a tick and a cross in it.

  • you can still make your own decisions

A person in a hospital bed being cared for by a doctor. The person in the bed has a speech bubble with an icon of a cross over themselves in it.

  • you still want to use voluntary assisted dying

A person making someone else say that they want to use voluntary assisted dying.

  • no one is making you use voluntary assisted dying

A person with a thought bubble that has a gravestone in it.

  • you understand that voluntary assisted dying will end your life.

A person pointing at you with a cross next to them.

You don’t need to do anything for this step.
