NSW recorded no new locally acquired and no overseas-acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, meaning the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 4,954.
There were 20,906 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 23,463.
Today marks a record 32 days with no reported locally acquired cases in NSW and we would like to thank the community for getting tested and being vigilant with social distancing and mask-wearing.
As there are cases of COVID-19 in Victoria and in New Zealand, and cases are being regularly detected among international arrivals to NSW, the risk of an incursion into the NSW community is ever present. It is critical that everyone continues to practise COVID-safe behaviours, as well as continuing to wear masks on public transport.
People travelling to NSW from Victoria no longer need to isolate, following the end of Victoria’s five-day lockdown at 11.59pm last night.
However, people who attended any of the venues of concern (known in Victoria as ‘exposure sites’) identified by the Victorian authorities in the past 14 days should follow the relevant advice on the website. Currently, different advice applies according to which of these places people attended, reflecting the assessed risk.
People travelling to NSW by air and rail who have been in Victoria in the previous 14 days also still need to fill out a declaration regarding the venues of concern.
There are more than 350 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit COVID-19 clinics or contact your GP.
NSW Health is treating 24 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases (96 per cent) are being treated in non-acute, out-of-hospital care, including returned travellers in the Special Health Accommodation.
Note: Case counts reported for a particular day may vary over time due to ongoing investigations and case review.
