Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that you can’t see, taste or smell

  • Some devices make carbon monoxide and should never be used indoors, including outdoor heaters and barbeques, tools with gasoline engines, portable generators and vehicle engines.
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning often occurs when people use these outdoor devices indoors or in a closed space without enough air flow.
  • Common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, nausea, vomiting and weakness.
  • People with more severe poisoning may feel dizzy, faint or lose consciousness, and in some instances, suffer permanent brain injury or death.
