​Transcript of Allied Health Workforce Macro Trends Report.

The allied heath workforce are a pivotal workforce in NSW Health, delivering on the quadruple aim which includes improving patient experience and wellbeing.

Over the last ten years, NSW Health has been studying it's allied health workforce, across 23 professions, producing 18 future focussed workforce reports. The Allied Health Macro Trends Report is the culmination of these workforce projects, after consultation with thousands of professionals and consumers.

So what are the six macro trend opportunities for the future that have come from these many years of knowledge and information?

  1. Promoting the value of allied health workforce, through improved awareness, recognition and involvement in multi-disciplinary teams.
  2. Strengthening leadership and governance - strategically, operationally, clinically and professionally.
  3. Improving training and career progression, enhancing clarity on career pathways so talent and training pipelines are better supported for incoming workforces.
  4. Improving workforce planning, data capacity and capability by optimising data standardisation, accessibility and simplified reporting across workforce, service activity and outcome measures.
  5. Improving service delivery, modernising models of care with evidence-based, high-value care, utilising allied health input to ensure best service.
  6. Improving access and equity, ensuring Aboriginal people, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, rural and remote communities receive tailored services they require.
