NSW Health has partnered with local health districts, private hospitals and other NSW Government agencies to open the first mass vaccination centre in NSW, which will commence operations in mid-May.

The partnerships involved in establishing the NSW Health Vaccination Centre at Sydney Olympic Park are essential to help scale NSW’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

The Vaccination Centre will be managed day-to-day by Sydney Local Health District and staffed by around 300 nursing, medical, pharmacy and administrative support staff. Planning for the Vaccination Centre is well advanced and will support the delivery of up to 30,000 vaccines each week.

The Vaccination Centre will initially offer the Pfizer/BioNTech (COMIRNATY™) COVID-19 vaccine and will complement several other Pfizer sites operating in NSW.

NSW Health’s State Health Emergency Operations Centre (SHEOC) Controller Susan Pearce, continues to support the operations of vaccination clinics.

‘The NSW Health Vaccination Centre at Sydney Olympic Park will be a wonderful addition to our vaccine clinic footprint in NSW,’ Ms Pearce said.

‘From next week we will be increasing the number of Pfizer vaccination sites across the state to complement the NSW Health Vaccination Centre.’

The NSW Health COVID-19 vaccination program now has over 100 vaccination clinics open in NSW, including outreach clinics to remote communities. NSW Health vaccination clinics have now administered over 185,000 doses of vaccine.
