Jacqui Cross: As we come to the end of 2019, I would really like to send out a message to you all thanking you for your wonderful contribution over the last 12 months. It's been an absolute privilege to be your professional lead during this time and hear about all of the fabulous work that you're undertaking.

My colleagues, the Local Health District Directors of Nursing and Midwifery would also like to join me in thanking you for all of your work, all of your dedication and most importantly the difference that you make to patients and to their families and the system as a whole.

It's really important at this time of year to take a breath, sit back and reflect on the year that's been. I hope that you're all able to take the opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and your families during this time.

I'd also like to make a special mention to our colleagues in rural and regional areas who are currently facing some real challenges with regard to drought. It's been going on for some time and also the current bush fires that are actually impacting on a lot of our colleagues and their families, and of course our communities.

So hoping that everybody has a safe and happy festive time and I look forward to working with you all in 2020.
