Nominations

Each NSW Health organisation can submit one project in each category. Nominations must follow the specific procedures of each local organisation. To find out more about how to nominate for the NSW Health Awards in your area, visit the NSW Health Intranet and contact your Local Liaison Officer.

Judging process

The NSW Heath Awards allow one nomination from each Local Health District/organisation per category. The local selection processes are determined by each individual organisation before being submitted to the state-based awards.

Judging panels

Each judging panel is made up of five judges, which include a consumer representative, clinical representative and executive member from a range of Local Health Districts/organisations from across the NSW Health system.

The judging process is conducted in two parts:

  1. Shortlisting: the respective panels review all Award submissions. All judges score and rank entries online using the Award Force platform. To account for inter-rater variability, the borda counting method is used to determine each judges' top 3 entries.
  2. Online judging panels: online meetings are held to review and finalise the judging of each award category. A thorough discussion is had among judges to determine the award finalists and recipients. The expected outcome of these discussions are to award one winner and two finalists per category, however, may differ based on the judging panel preferences.

Judging rules

  • Equal voting rights: each panel member has equal voting rights.
  • Conflict of interest: where there is a conflict of interest from a judging panel member, they will be asked to abstain from voting on that entry.
  • Confidentiality: in fairness to the convenor, judges, finalist and award recipients, all information relating to the judging process must remain confidential.
  • The identity of Award finalists is to remain confidential until after the NSW Health Awards announcement in September 2024.
  • Winners are to remain confidential until after the NSW Health Awards ceremony on 24 October 2024.
