The Health Equity award recognises programs and projects that overcome barriers to achieve better health in a defined group or population. This can include, but are not limited to, victims of violence, abuse and neglect, those affected by alcohol and other drugs, people involved in the criminal justice system, people with disability, refugees, and those who experience homelessness.

Projects can be small or large scale but must target the needs of the defined group or population.
We recognise and acknowledge the ongoing disparities in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and some multicultural populations, which NSW Health is committed to addressing. Separate award categories are available for projects that specifically focus on addressing health inequities in these population groups.
