All employees are required to develop an annual Performance Agreement and Development Plan and to complete an annual Performance Review.

Your Performance Agreement (referred to in section 9 of the Contract of Employment) will contain the criteria that will be used in your annual performance review. You should prepare and finalise your Performance Agreement on the Performance and Talent System (PAT) within 6-8 weeks of commencement.

Performance Agreements will continue to be negotiated on an annual basis; however, may be varied by mutual agreement. In addition, you will responsible for:

  • developing your own capability with the support of your manager;
  • actively contributing in all aspects of performance development, including openly receiving and giving open and honest feedback with your manager.

Refer to the NSW Health Executive Performance Management Policy for further information.

NSW Public Sector Capability Framework

The NSW Public Sector Capability Framework describes the core capabilities required of public sector employees. Capabilities are the skills, knowledge and abilities required in the workplace by both individuals and teams to achieve NSW Health's objectives. The Capability Framework applies across the sector and all occupational groups.

Your capability development is an important part of Performance Development and must be linked to the KPIs in your Performance Agreement and Development Plan. The NSW Public Sector Capability Framework can also guide your career development.
