Climate change is a global phenomenon that is affecting local environmental conditions.

Climates are changing due to the build-up of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from human activities such as burning fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide is the most important greenhouse gas, with emissions of methane and nitrous oxide also contributing to climate change.

Climate change is increasing the number and severity of events such as heatwaves, bushfires, floods and droughts that impact human health and wellbeing.
