NSW Preventive Health Summit 2026

The NSW Government will hold a two-day summit to identify practical, evidence-based opportunities to strengthen prevention efforts across the state and improve long-term health outcomes for the people of NSW.

About the summit

The NSW Government announced a Preventive Health Summit to focus on improving long-term health outcomes by addressing the preventable disease burden and identifying practical, system-wide actions to strengthen and embed prevention.

Ahead of the Summit, NSW Health has prepared a report on the health of the people of NSW, which describes preventable risk factors across the life course. This report is the basis for targeted roundtable engagements to identify key action areas for the health system and government agencies. Through these engagements, NSW Health has met with a broad range of stakeholders to inform key themes and priorities for discussion at the Summit.

Based on the themes selected for discussion at the Summit, the NSW Government will bring together a mix of stakeholders to facilitate robust consideration of the priority areas. This will include the health sector, government, academia, non-government organisations, clinical groups, and peak bodies.

The Summit will be held at Parramatta, in the heart of Western Sydney, over two days: Wednesday 7 October, which will focus on the health system, and Friday 9 October, which will focus on cross-government approaches to preventive health.

NSW Health will prepare a report following the summit, which will be presented to the NSW Government.
