The Youth Health Training Initiative is a state-wide project to build capacity of the health workforce to provide high-quality healthcare for young people.

This initiative includes the Essential Youth Healthcare Skills workshop, a high-quality, evidence-informed, one-day workshop for healthworkers. The workshop is for anyone who provides a health service for young people aged 12 to 24, and will particularly suit those health service providers who sometimes see young people but do not see themselves as youth health experts.

The Youth Health Training Initiative commenced in 2016.  Local trainers within local health districts and specialty health networks receive support from the Youth Health and Wellbeing team to deliver the workshop.
