St George Hospital’s state-of-the-art Acute Services Building opened today, under budget and ahead of schedule, as works continue on the $277 million campus upgrade.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Minister for Health Brad Hazzard and Member for Oatley Mark Coure officially opened the nine-level centre, which was finished six months ahead of schedule.
“Our Government said this project would be fast-tracked and we have delivered yet again for patients, staff and the St George community,” Ms Berejiklian said.
Mr Hazzard said the new building boasts the latest medical technologies and is a wonderful addition to the hospital’s $43 million emergency department opened in 2014.
“St George is a major trauma centre and one of the busiest hospitals in NSW with more than 70,000 patients passing through its doors each year,” Mr Hazzard said.
“This new building – with more beds, a new helipad and twice as many operating theatres as before – will ensure patients get first-class care, in a first-class facility.”

Member for Oatley Mark Coure said the state-of-the-art building will ensure St George Hospital’s dedicated staff can work in the best surrounds possible.
“We need to look after the people who look after us and I am delighted this Government has done just that by providing these amazing facilities,” Mr Coure said.
