Liverpool will be home to a new world-class health, research and education precinct with the NSW Government committing $740 million for the project.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the precinct, to be located at Liverpool Hospital, would help create thousands of jobs.
Mr Perrottet said the precinct will showcase Liverpool as a hub for innovation and emerging technologies, boost the economy and create unprecedented jobs growth.
“The precinct has the potential to double the number of jobs in the health and education sectors to about 30,000 by 2036, representing almost 25 per cent of the local workforce,” Mr Perrottet said.
Mr Hazzard said the capacity of Liverpool Hospital would also increase following the redevelopment works, building on the previous $397 million redevelopment completed in 2012.
“This major redevelopment will see an expansion of Liverpool Hospital’s emergency department, neonatal intensive care, maternity and critical care capacity, as well as day surgery and radiology capacity,” he said.
