Health Minister Brad Hazzard encouraged locals to come to a community information session being held at Stockland Green Hills on the new hospital.
“Congratulations to the local community and all of the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff who have worked so hard, together with the project team, to bring this exciting new hospital to life,” Mr Hazzard said.
“Very soon, the Maitland community will have a world-class hospital with health services and facilities of which everyone can be proud.
“The new hospital will include a new emergency department and expanded surgical theatres, maternity and paediatric services and will create almost 5000 indirect and direct new jobs. The hospital will also offer chemotherapy services for the first time.”
Michael DiRienzo, Chief Executive of Hunter New England Local Health District, invited the community to come to an information stall at Stockland Green Hills and view an updated image of the façade of the hospital, as well as an animation showing the stages of the hospital build.
“I encourage everyone to come and meet the fantastic project team to learn more about this wonderful new hospital being built for our community,” Mr DiRienzo said.
“The hospital design is in keeping with the rich local heritage, landscapes and Maitland district.”
